As much as I try to fight it, this time of year comes around eventually and every year (with the exception of the past 2 years) it is the same. Speculation and resentment over the winter weather.

I want to reiterate the very thing that I am sure you will hear over and over again this year. Forecasting winter weather is a tricky business. You will not hear us talking about any events more than 3 days out because anything past 3 days is ever changing. 0-3 days out is the best because the weather is always updating and changing.

Every year there are things that happen in the weather world that either make or break a snow event. In the south, we apparently have it wired in our brains that when you hear the word *snow*,  you feel the sudden urge to grab milk and bread from the store. Screen Shot 2017-12-12 at 4.50.40 PM

There are things that go into forecasting any winter event. They are the hardest to predict. Please be courteous to people who work in the weather community. There is also a PSA that I would like to give. Do not believe everything you read on the internet about winter weather.  Especially people who are already stating that there is going to be a Christmas storm in our mists. Make sure that you are getting your information from a reliable source. The information that we receive is directly from the NWS in Nashville, and when they deem it ready to be shared with the public, then and only then, do we bring that information to you.  We are a close-knit ‘family’ so to say in the weather community and we all have the same goal in mind. Making sure that the public we serve is well informed of any weather event that could impact their daily lives.

I am very happy to give all of you the information that I have learned over the years. If you have any questions or concerns you all are more than welcome to contact me, comment below, or message me on twitter.

Thank you all for your time.
